Frequently Asked Questions

Interior Painting FAQs

What brand of paint do you use?

Although we will use a different brand of paint if you prefer, we typically use Sherwin-Williams paints for our ceiling, wall and trim painting.

Do I need to patch nail holes before hand?

No. Unless agreed upon otherwise, we always include patching nail holes as part of our standard prep work.

Does everything need to be removed from the rooms?

We do ask that all wall hangings and breakable items be removed from the rooms that work is being performed in.

Do I need to remove all furniture from the rooms?
No. We will move and cover furniture as needed.

If wall hangings are going back in the same spot, do I need to remove the nail?
No. If wall hangings are going back in the same spot, leave the nail. If we see a hole we assume it gets patched.

Do I buy the paint or do you?
We almost always handle purchasing the paint. It is built in the costs of all of our estimates unless agreed on otherwise. If you do insist on buying the paint yourself, we will tell you the specifics on what we use for that particular project. The paints we suggest are based on experience and proven testing. Low quality paints purchased by homeowner can result in a change to the estimate due to coverage issues.

Cabinet Refinishing FAQs

How durable is the finish?
The finish is very durable. We use the finest industrial wood coatings imported from Italy for our top coat. They hold up to every day use and abuse and are pretty impact resistant. As with any finish, if you hit it hard enough with something, it can dent or chip in a small area.

Is there a warranty?
Yes. We offer a lifetime warranty for materials and workmanship on our cabinet refinishing projects. This means that your cabinets will never yellow and the finish will never peel off. Along with the warranty you will get three free one hour touch up sessions to be used at any time.

Do I need to empty my cabinets out?
Not if you don’t want to. We mask all of the openings so overspray does not get into the boxes. You may want to remove items that you use on a daily basis as the kitchen will be out of service for two days during the process.

How long does the process take?
Most kitchens take about four and a half days. Bigger kitchens can take five full days. Rarely do they take longer than five days.

Should I get new countertops before or after refinishing?
Either way is fine. If you get them before, they are masked off completely. After works too. Countertop installation is a pretty delicate process so it is highly unlikely that the cabinet finish will get damaged.

Should I get new flooring before or after refinishing?
We recommend getting new flooring before we refinish your cabinets. There is a much greater chance of damaging the cabinets with flooring installation. We cover the entire floor with a waterproof product so there is no chance of overspray or spilled paint ruining your new floor.

Am I limited to certain colors?
Absolutely not! The product we use can be tinted to any color from Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore color palettes.

Does it cost to change out hardware?
There is NO extra cost to change out hardware (handles, knobs and hinges). We take them off and put them back on anyway. There is also NO extra cost to drill new holes for hardware if your cabinets don’t already have them. The only time there is an extra cost is when the knob or handle has to be repositioned. In that case the old holes have to be plugged with dowels and smoothed out. The cost to reposition each handle/knob is $10.

Exterior Cleaning FAQs

What do you use to clean the exteriors of homes?
We use a safe blend of chemicals to clean exteriors. We never take high pressure to siding or roofs. Power washing can damage and void the warranty on your siding and shingles. Our process is actually recommended by siding and shingle manufacturers.

Is your chemical blend safe for plants and trees?
The mold and algae that is on your home is organic. In order to remove it without damaging your home, we apply and let the chemicals do their job. We wet down plants and trees before, during and after to ensure that nothing is damaged. Dilution is the solution! Rest assured that there will be no trace of chemicals when we leave. Your home will be safe for children and pets.

Will I see results the same day?
Yes! By the time we leave, your home will look fresh and clean!

How long does your cleaning last?
Cleaning the exterior of your home is maintenance so it doesn’t last forever. With that being said we have seen mold not come back for up to four years. More commonly it lasts in between two and three years. It all depends on the amount of sunlight your home gets.

Is there anything that your chemicals don’t work on?
Yes. In some cases there could be permanent damage done to surfaces left uncleaned for too long. This could look like stains but in reality the elements have etched certain surfaces.
